Traffic Management

Traffic management

Traffic management, or road traffic control, is a specialist area for Briant Traffic, and one that is carried out to the highest standard, whether on major highways or rural and urban roads.

All road traffic controls systems, such as traffic lights, contraflows, lane closures and diversions, must be meticulously planned, expertly installed and rigorously implemented.

Safety

The priority with every traffic management system, be it high or low speed traffic, is always safety. The safety of the workforce and the safety of members of the public.

So, not only must all crew members hold the most up to date qualifications and certification, such as Lantra and Sign, lighting and Guarding accreditation, every element of every project is National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) compliant.

Traffic Management Orders required for all permanent, experimental, temporary and special event diversions are organised for each project, along with bespoke signage where needed.

Highways

Briant Traffic has played a central role in a number of both short and long-term prominent highway installation and maintenance projects in Kent, London and across the South East. And using a breadth of skills and experience, has deployed highly effective traffic control system, from reactive traffic management for emergency works to pre- planned works. All of which requiring authority leasing, permitting and planning weeks prior to work commencing.

Highways traffic management systems are evermore intelligent. So, Briant Traffic operates a robust training programme to ensure that all crew members stay bang up to date with the latest highways installation and
maintenance traffic light technology.

Workforce' certifications also ensure crews are able to use and deploy 'impact protection vehicles' and contraflow systems. Which are often used to implement high speed traffic management solutions on dual carriageways and motorways, and on hard shoulder and lane closures.

Urban and rural

Working in with utility companies in rural and urban areas, Briant
Traffic crews use a range of traffic management systems to safeguard worksites and workers, as well as protecting motorists and pedestrians.

These can be temporary lane or pathway closures caused by an obstruction, such as a fallen tree or road traffic accident. Or diverting motorists safely around a construction site, whether
that be a Briant Traffic civil engineering project or a gas, electric, water or cabling site. It could even be putting temporary diversions in place - including diversion signage - for local events.

Traffic lights

Traffic light systems are frequently the most suitable approach on projects such as these, whether they're highways, urban or rural, and are generally automated with sensor technology. However, 'give and take', and 'stop and go' management are sometimes more suitable and are frequently operator controlled.

When more complex traffic control solutions are required, Briant Traffic crews commonly set up and deploy an 'active traffic management' system, which can use two, three or four-way traffic lights.

There are many traffic management solution options available to experienced traffic management crews, and Briant Traffic will always seek the most appropriate solution.
